Green Bay to Spend over $100,000 on Moving Packers Heritage Trail Monument

Posted by Miron Construction

Removing the Packers Heritage Trail Monument would cost $109,701, a cost which will be born by the City of Green Bay, according to documents.

The Packers Heritage Plaza features the statues of Paul Hornung, Johnny “Blood” (McNally), Bart Starr and team co-founder George Whitney Calhoun, among others. The Plaza also includes a large recognition wall and green space enhancements. It opened in 2013. However, when the city approved plans for an apartment complex on the site, it said the plaza would have to be moved to an undetermined location. Packers Heritage, Inc., sued, seeking to keep the display in its current location at the corner of Washington and Cherry streets. But the team later relented, and agreed to move the display.

On Thursday, the city’s Redevelopment Authority is scheduled to consider spending the $109,701 to move it.
