Miron Construction aims to spread awareness of Construction Suicide Prevention
September is National Suicide Prevention Month, and Miron Construction employees are constantly being trained in QPR.
QPR stands for question, persuade, refer, allowing the individuals to identify the signs of suicidal ideation.
With September 9 through 13 being Construction Suicide Prevention Week, Miron Construction’s wellness coordinator, Meredith Baciak, continues training employees year-round.
Local 5 News caught up with Baciak, who talked more in-depth about Miron Construction’s commitment to the well-being of its employees and QPR training.
“What a lot of people don’t know is that in the construction industry, the [suicide] numbers are four times the national average,” explained Baciak. “Seven out of ten construction employees struggle with mental health.”
