Posted by Miron Construction

City of Madison officials announced Monday the selection of a construction partner to build the city’s first permanent men’s shelter.

Miron Construction will build the shelter on Bartillon Drive, which is expected to be 40,000 square feet and house up to 250 men experiencing homelessness. The purpose-built shelter will be specifically designed to meet the needs of the men staying there.

City of Madison Community Development Division Director Jim O’Keefe said the facility is a result of hard work and collaboration between City of Madison, the County and other local stakeholders. Porchlight will serve as the local nonprofit operating the shelter.
