‘Build Like a Girl’ event held in Lake Hallie

A construction company welcomed the next generation of women with its first Build Like a Girl event.
Miron Construction in Lake Hallie held the event on Thursday, July 18 for girls in seventh to tenth grade.
The girls constructed a brick wall, made benches and learned how to operate heavy machinery like a crane.
“Very often they don’t get exposure to the construction industry, it does still tend to be a gender differentiator,” said Amanda Manteufel, a project executive with Miron Construction.
