Project Overview
The new Bayside Middle School is a replacement school on the existing site for grades 5-8. Varying building heights and the exterior colors complement the neighborhood’s mid-century modern architecture and celebrate school pride. The design allows students to move together within their own secure grade neighborhoods while sharing core spaces (cafeteria, library/media center, music, art, and physical education) in the center of the building. Demolition of the original structure allows for site improvements including replacement of the track, play areas, green space, and more parking.
The project also includes capital improvements at Stormonth Elementary School that include the repair and replacement of the exterior envelope (windows, doors, roof), replacement of mechanical systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, air quality, electrical, plumbing), and upgrades to technology infrastructure, fire alarms and sprinklers, finishes (flooring, ceilings, paint), and ADA accessibility.
