Project Overview
The new Vel Phillips Middle School is part of the Oshkosh Area School District’s multi-phase, long-range facilities plan to improve and modernize their schools and create environments that are more efficient, effective, and equitable for the community. The construction of the new 800-student middle school joins together 6-8 grade students from two smaller schools to create a unified, modern facility for all.
From the central commons, students can view activities in the specialized spaces for tech ed, STEAM, and family and consumer science. The media center incorporates collaborative meeting spaces for student and the community, and music wing is a haven for musicians designed to inspire creativity and foster a love for music. A learning stair provides a unique venue for study, socialization, and circulation. The classrooms feature large doors for connecting classrooms and central collaborative hub space that facilitate 21st century learning.
